Now that the football games for the day are over, I am tickled to find my Chargers going to the AFC Championship game, for the first time since they defeated the Steelers in the same game on Jan. 15, 1995. Now I really, really hope they can take out the Patriots. I'm pretty freaking tired of listening to the hype.

But I have to laugh about something one of the commentators just said at the end of the Giants-Cowboys game: "There is a Manning playing in a championship game next week, and his name is not Peyton." I thought that was pretty dang funny.

Anyway, I am waiting for next week. I sure hope my team can be the Patriots. If not, I sure hope the Packers or the Giants can beat the Patriots. If not, I hope some guy in a dark alley can beat the Patriots, because I'm f*%&^*$ sick of them. Seriously.

Bolts bolts bolts haaaaahhhhhh!!!

What a freaking awesome game! And unlike the November game which my Bolts won when Vinateri pushed a chip shot wide, nobody can say that the Chargers got lucky here. Hell, the refs were bending them over every opportunity they got, and they still pulled it out! And I caught the comment at the end of the Dallas game, too, and thought the same thing. As to wanting someone to beat the Patsies, I've got one problem there. I farging HATE Eli Manning. After he, Peyton, and Archie dissed the Chargers back in the draft, I want him to lose lose lose! If the Pats win, the Pack better win the NFC, because as much as I do NOT want the Pats to have a perfect season, I equally do NOT want Eli Manning to get a Super Bowl ring. Ideally, the Chargers will smash the Pats into the Foxboro turf and then ride the Mo into the Lombardi Trophy. Here's hoping...

I don't blame Eli for the whole thing nearly as much as I blame Archie. I just think Eli's a goof who's gonna have to live with the fact that his brother is Peyton Manning his entire career. And I seriously doubt that the Giants can beat the Packers. I just want ANYBODY to beat the freakin' Patriots. While I love and cherish Junior and always will, I want their perfect season to be a footnote attached to the Chargers' first Super Bowl victory.

Hoff, I am glad you got to watch the game. I was wondering if you would be allowed to.

I understand why you dislike Eli, but I do think the whole debacle was just mostly Archie's work. I have never liked that guy. After being stuck on a decidedly mediocre team his entire career, I can understand why he did not want Eli going to a team that did not look that promising, but he definitely handled it wrong. Eli will never be half the QB that big brother is, but I guess I don't mind him too much. Maybe it is because he went to Ole Miss while I was there, I don't know.

As far as the NFC goes, it doesn't really matter to me which team wins. I would love for Strahan to get a ring. He seems like a great player and a good role model, which is a rare thing in pro sports. On the other hand, Favre is having an awesome year and is playing with a team mentality that he hasn't demonstrated in a few years. Either way, I just want the best team through. (looks like the Pack at this point)

I know how much you guys like Seau, but how great would it be for the Chargers to beat the Pats and go on to win the championship. I would love for them to be able to rub it in the face of the ex-chargers on that team who left because they wanted to be on a team that could win a championship, especially that thug Harrison.

Actually, I've always liked Hitman Harrison. He's always been a gamer, and I can't really recall him speaking ill of the Chargers...beyond Bobby Bethard and company who released him with (obviously) several years of life left in him. And yeah, Archie was the driving force behind all of that draft crap, but Eli didn't do much to help his cause when the Chargers selected him. That photo of him with the uniform was priceless. Ideally, here's my dream scenario: Bolts go to Foxboro and ruin the perfect season. Somehow the Giants get past Green Bay and make it to the Super Bowl. And there the Chargers destroy Eli and company, thus winning their first Super Bowl, ruining the perfect season for Brady and Bill Bellicheater, and sticking it in Archie's face by beating both of his sons. That's what I think. And there was no way I was going to miss that game. Between my radio, the many people at the car show that had TVs and radios going, and the bar at the restaurant where we had lunch, there were no worries.
