First Thanksgiving without my mom. I know this cartoon was actually written about Johnny Hart, who drew B.C. for years, but somehow it was very fitting for me.

Amen. It was just wrong, not going to Mom and Dad's house, not smelling turkey or mom's stuffing, not seeing the dining room table crammed with food. And I bet dad doesn't do much decorating for Christmas, so that will be even more weird. It really feels like I'm drifting on autopilot, and there's nothing I can do about it. So it goes, I guess.

Yeah, Dad was saying he wasn't sure what to do as far as decorations, because he didn't really want to drag all that stuff down out of the rafters in the garage. I suggested he get a little tree, get down a box or two of ornaments, and invite the two of you over to help decorate. You might invite yourself over if he doesn't say anything; I think it needs to happen. I really wish you could come out for Christmas to WY.
